What a superb bit of kit!

I'd been considering a micro-baffled insulated jacket for a while, and had decided on synthetic rather than down fill for our damp UK conditions. So, it was going to be one of the three Icarus jackets then.

I ruled out the Icarus Micro fairly quickly as I wanted a hood. That turned out to be a good choice as the hood on the Icarus Flight is hardly noticeable when not in use but keeps the warmth in when needed. The next choice was going to be the Icarus or the Icarus Flight.

I finally decided on the Icarus Flight because of the stretch panels. First time out was a cool day with wind, and I thought I might have made the wrong choice - there was a definite 'cool' feeling down the sides of the jacket. The solution was simple - a thin micro-fleece top under the Flight did the trick and kept the warmth in, though in some conditions a base-layer alone has been enough. This adds to the versatility of the Flight, 'cos if you get too warm it's easy to take off the micro-fleece top to dump some heat.

Those stretch panels also permit a close fit without constricting movement in any way and the Flight layers up nicely below a thin waterproof when the weather turns bad. I'm 38" chest/5' 9" tall and the small is a perfect fit for me.

It's light, packable and has already shrugged off a couple of showers without becoming a soggy clump of insulation. On top of all the above, it's well priced for an insulated jacket. I'm looking forward to getting it out in the cold when winter arrives, and first impressions are that it's going to be my first choice on those snowy days.

As I said, a superb bit of kit.
